Save Money - Hire An Interior Designer

Save Your Money – Hire An Interior Designer!

Interior designers are only hired by the rich and famous. Wrong! This myth is definitely not true. Interior designers can work on a wide variety of projects and within the parameters of any budget. Their focus is to give you exactly what you want, when you want it and how you want it.

Saving you money starts by minimizing mistakes, spending money wisely, creating a 'designer look' for a handyman budget and offering expert advice. Examples may include: suggesting a paint colour that compliments the space, selecting the correct scale of furniture, designing floor plans to maximize the room's potential (especially important in a commercial space or tiny condo), by using exisiting furniture/art/accessories and by referring professional trades or contractors.

E.L.P. Designs and Space Planning design services are not just for the rich…they are for anyone who appreciates value, amazing design creativity or for those who understand the benefits of professional expertise in any respective field i.e.:plumber, real estate agent, lawyer, dentist….We are experts in the design field - why not give us a try?

To save MONEY RIGHT NOW…

In addition, our clients quite often save money by purchasing these tems through us, compared to spending their valuable time sourcing and purchasing on their own and by getting exactly what works best for their space.

In that regard, over the past few weeks, several suppliers are promotinge amazing deals with notices about 'Specials’, ‘Clearance items’, ‘Sample Sale’ or ‘Clearout’ of products that may be as little as six months old in order to make room for new products. If you want to save money while getting exactly what you want for your home, office or commercial project, then give us a call today!

Reality TV - Is it real?

'REALITY' TELEVISION - IS IT REAL?

More specifically the home renovation/decorating/re-design programs!

Many people watch ‘reality’ television, believing what they see to be real. The true fact in my professional opinion, is that home makeover programs that show a complete or even partial makeover of a home that happens in 30 minutes (less commerciail time) is simply not real or feasible. Many of the projects shown can take anywhere from one week to one year to complete, not to mention the staff of 10 to 20 or more people behind the scenes working on that specific epiisode.

Home makeovers do not have to be costly, difficult or time consuming. Depending on the scope of the project, the client’s expectations can usually be met quite easily. A professional designer or makeover specialist listens carefully to the client, then creates a makeover or re-design that would be difficult to obtain on their own.

At E.L.P. Designs and Space Planning, we are experts in the desgn field. We review the client's budget and create a deisign plan to give them what they see on television but don't know how to get to that point, where to start or how not to waste their hard earned money.

Oh yes…sometimes we do take longer than 30 minutes for a project from start to finish, but were working on it!

Please review these sample ‘before’ and ‘after’ pictures to get an idea of how your space can be transformed using the professionals at E.L.P Designs and Space Planning and check back often for more pictures.

Whether you are thinking of re-decorating, re-designing or simply starting from scratch with some new paint colours, new furniture or re-arranging what you already have, then give us a call today.

How To Choose An Interior Designer

How to Choose An Interior Designer

Have you ever considered hiring a professional Interior Designer…Then read on;

You have no idea how the design/decorating process works -

The entire process is much simpler than you may believe. No matter the size or budget of the project, A professional can assist in the design process including problem solving, space planning, furniture selection and layout, application of design elements, colour consultation, selection and application of finish materials, decorative elements and lighting. Designers will work with you to create a home that reflects your own personal taste that meets your changing needs.

You believe that using a skilled designer may actually be out of your budget and is only required for large projects;

A professional designer can actually save you money by saving on costly mistakes and by working with professional trades and contractors. They make the most of what you own and do the research to find what you need, offer assistance to help you make informed selections from a vast number of product resources, many that only trade professionals have access to. They help you understand, as many consumers are intimidated by the thought of hiring an interior designer and unnecessarily worry they'll lose control of the design or budget.

What to look for in the hiring process and how to choose the right individual for you;
- Ask around with your friends and relatives who have had recent design work done. Once you find the right professional that you are comfortable working with they will be able to explain the entire process step by step.
- Understand how the designer will help you define and enhance your own style or how they will provide better design elements;
- A designer should look at your space and visualize how they see the final design. This includes colours, style, textures, use of space and details that you may have never thought of.
- Knowledge, expertise and guidance to prevent costly mistakes.
- Can they act as a Marriage councilor?; In some instances, two partners of a relationship cannot agree on any details or what to do. A professional designer acting as a third party creates a design that takes everyone’s wishes into account.
- Ask to see some before and after examples.
- Ask for some references.

Planning on doing some renovations or updating, purchasing new furniture, finishing your basement, remodeling your kitchen or bath, buying an older home, building an addition or a buying a brand new condo from plans, then think about calling a professional interior designer to help you out…you’ll be glad you did!

How to Choose Paint Colours

How To Choose Paint Colours

Choosing the wrong paint colour is one of the biggest mistakes do it yourself projects make. It is too dark or too light or does not match the key furniture in the space....the mistakes are endless.

Stop and evaluate the following details in order to make better decisions on your paint choices:
- what is the room going to be used for?
- what furniture / curtains do you already have for that room?
- does the space connect to any other spaces?
- how much natural light does the room have?
- what kind of lighting do you have?
- what kind of environment do you want to create for the space?
- how large is the room?
- can you use two different colours to create a better look?

Do not make the wrong choices on the colour of your paint because most people will live with the mistake for up to five years before fixing it to a better choice. If you are not comfortable choosing a paint colour, please call today and book a colour consultation with an expert.
